MV Legends Baseball

Here are my stats for 3/16/08.
2 for 3/1 run/1walk/1 stolen base

MV Legends Baseball

Your local Moreno Valley Legends baseball team played it's first game on Sunday 3/16. It was a very good game with three different lead changes but in the end the Legends fell to the Norco Dodgers by a score of 6-14. There were a lot of bright spots during the game and also things to work on and learn from. It was also a good learning experience for Fernando and myself as first time coaches. On a sad note, one of our players went down with a sprained ankle on a play in center field. Hopefully he will be ready to go for our next game which is Sunday, March 30th. Feel free to come out and root us on. If you get there early enough I can even get you an autograph from one of your favorite players. For full stats and schedule visit www.mvlegends.com.

Kaleb's Funny Face

I get a kick out of watching this video. It is just Kaleb trying to make a funny face but having trouble because he keeps laughing.

Mt. Rubidoux

Every time my mom comes out to visit we go on a hike. Last year we decided to go up Mt. Rubidoux. I have always wondered what the castle looking structure was and I wanted to get a close up look at the giant cross that is up there. The hike turned out to be fairly easy because there is a 2.25 mile paved path that leads to the top. Of course we ventured off the path to explore things that caught our eye. At one point we encountered a vicious wild squirrel that my mom decided to taunt by calling it a dirty rat. Mental note: never call a squirrel a dirty rat. They don't like it. Next we came to the castle which I was most excited to see. As it turns out it is not a castle but a peace tower and a friendship bridge. Once we reached the top we were surprised with a spectacular sight. The cross towers high into the sky. I was not expecting it to be that big. There are also some interesting plaques all around the area. Some are set right into carved sections of stone. It is immediately obvious that there is a lot of history up there. I highly recommend going up there if you have never been. If nothing else you get a little exercise and a great view of the surrounding area. WhatABurger/Sonic

While in Tempe we had to stop at a place called WhatABurger. It certainly lived up to it's name. I thought the food was awesome. The only bad thing about eating there was that unknowing to me there was a Sonic Burger right across the street. Now I am not saying that Sonic is better or even good (I have yet to eat there) but it has been a mission of mine to eat there. I have tried unsuccessfully for some time now. Now that I had just eaten a huge burger I was mad that I missed out on Sonic so I made Jeff stop so I could buy a shake and force it down. Even though I had no room in my stomach I managed to drink it and it wasn't bad. One of these days I will get to eat there.

Enough said

Spring Training '08

So this year was my first year attending the Angels spring training. I have been trying to go for years but for some reason I never made it. This year my buddy Jeff convinced me it was time to make the journey and what a journey it was. I believe the drive is normally a 6 - 7 hour drive but we managed to make it there in 5 - 5.5 hours. Needless to say I was frightened most of the time we were in the car (although this is not anything new to anyone who knows me). We arrived to Tempe around 2 am. We were knowingly staying in a very low budget motel room. After all what do we need with clean accommodations. I jokingly said to Jeff before we arrived that there were going to be roaches and hookers everywhere. Well I didn't see any roaches but sure enough there were two hookers hanging out in front of the place. What did I get myself into? Anyway the stay wasn't that bad and the next day we got up early and headed to the ball field. The weather couldn't have been any better. Once we got there I was immediately amazed. They had three practice fields where the Angel hopefuls and some starters were practicing on. You could watch them do hitting or fielding from a very close distance. Scioscia was even getting down and dirty playing first base. We then moved in to position to catch some fly balls. The first one hit in our range I went for. Anyone who knows me knows that if there is a fly ball in our area they had better watch out. I am like a bulldozer going after the ball. I even once knocked down a man with one leg to get a ball (but that is a different embarrassing story). In this instance I managed to trip over a curb and land on some kid. Needless to say I did not make it to the ball. The next fly ball I was a little more lucky but only a little. It was a screaming line drive hit straight at me. I didn't even have to move. I got extremely excited, put my hands out and prepared for impact. Only I wasn't prepared for that impact. It hit my hands with such great velocity that my hands flew apart and the ball landed comfortably in Jeff's hand. I couldn't do anything but stare at my useless and tingling hands. The right fielder asked Jeff if he was going to give me the ball since I did all of the work. He abruptly told him "No". He gave it to me any way. I then was able to get it signed by my favorite Angel Reggie Willits in addition to Napoli, Mathis and Wood. I was also able to get my hat signed by numerous other Angel hopefuls. I was amazed at how close we were able to get to the players. Most of them were very friendly with exception to Kendry Morales. I am not much of a fan of his any more. After the signing we went in and watched the game from our amazing seats located right behind homeplate. We were close enough for Jeff to heckle the opposing team which he loves to do. The game was great with Hunter belting a three run homer. When the game was over I was able to get Brandon Wood to sign another baseball for "Kaleb". In reality it is going to sit on my shelf with the rest of my memorabilia until he is older.

Super Mario

As we were on our way in to eat at Subway (eat fresh!) we saw Super Mario walking around. This seemed like a photo opportunity that we couldn't pass up on. Drayden thought he was the neatest thing and kept calling his name. I was a little freaked out at first. I mean, it's not every day that you see an 8 foot video game character just walking around.
